Alice Smith – founder of the Dale-based design studio Sgrinhouse – has recently spent time away from her role as a fabric cutter with Audrey Johns Ltd, partaking in the perfect collaboration: Sgrinhouse x Audrey Johns Ltd at Focus/25 in Design Centre, Chelsea Harbour. All proudly supported by Audrey Johns Ltd.
During this period, Sgrinhouse also received a prestigious award from Homes & Gardens magazine when it was named ‘Best Newcomer Fabric Design 2025’ for its hand-printed fabric Flags.
We are now bringing the exhibition display to you! Come to the Showroom to see it for yourself and talk to our experienced team about how you can benefit from these beautiful Sgrinhouse designs in your own upholstery designs. Creating Healing Homes Together: Audrey Johns Partnering with Furnishing Futures.
Directors George and Jane Johns met with Furnishing Futures at Decorex, Olympia in October to discuss furthering the partnership that’s grown between us in recent years.
Furnishing Futures creates fully furnished homes that give hope and dignity to women and children placed in empty social housing after domestic abuse. With less than 2% of social housing coming furnished, many families are forced to start again with nothing. The campaign ‘No Place Like Home’ shines a light on this.
Partnering with the interiors industry, the charity sources new or ‘as new’ furniture and accessories that might otherwise go to landfill. All staff are trained in trauma-informed practice and use trauma-informed, biophilic design to create healing homes where women and children can recover and rebuild.
We hope our soft furnishings donations from Audrey Johns – including curtains, Roman blinds, cushions, lampshades, and bed throws – go some way to supporting this important cause.
Furnishing Futures offers everything from bespoke home design services for survivors in unfurnished tenancies to essential furniture and bedding for those in temporary accommodation. Their work enhances safety, reduces poverty, and supports the physical and emotional well-being of women and children, rebuilding their lives.
